A recent report by The Work Federation has highlighted that almost twice as many workers in the UK are affected by Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) such as back pain and upper limb disorders than by stress.  MSDs are the most commonly reported cause of work-related ill health affecting 1,012,000 people in 2005/2006.

More than 2.5 million people in the UK visit their GP with back pain each year.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) estimates the cost of MSDs to society is more than £7 billion a year.
